Acronym Software Inc. was founded in 1986 to produce computational engineering solutions for professional design offices and engineering institutions throughout North America.

Acronym develops, distributes, and supports the WoodWorks Design Office suite of applications, and is currently developing a new masonry design software package.

November 18, 2008

Aug  1,  2008  -

WoodWorks - Release of a service release, version 7.1, of the Canadian edition of WoodWorks Design Office. Download information from the WoodWorks website.

July  4,  2008  -

WoodWorks Custom Version:   A new custom version of WoodWorks Sizer was provided to Western Archrib, Inc. of Edmonton, Alberta, for design of their glulam products.  This replaces the SOLVER 4 software previously created for WA by Acronym. The new software implements the latest design codes and standards - NBCC 2005 and NDS 2001 ( 2005 update).

March 10, 2008  -

WoodWorks - Release of version 8 of the USA edition of the  WoodWorks software. This upgrade implements the ASCE 7 2005 load generation standard, and the IBC 2006 design code.

Jan 3, 2008  -

Release of  version 7 of the Canadian edition of WoodWorks Design Office.. It implements provisions from the 2005 National Building Code of Canada, and the 2003 Update and 2005 Supplement to the CSA O86-01 Design Standard. Also added to the Sizer program are hydrostatic, earthquake and vertical soil loads, and the ability to track all load types, not just live and dead, in the Concept Mode structural model.  The Shearwalls program now includes seismic irregularity analysis.

Masonry Software - Acronym is developing a masonry design software package in conjunction with Canada Masonry Design Centre and the Canadian Concrete Masonry Producers Association. It will implement the CSA S304.1-04 Standard in the construction of masonry walls, columns, beams, and shearwalls.  It is scheduled for release to the engineering community in 2009.
